Prior to joining Altos, Zachary was an Assistant Professor of Pathology and Molecular Biophysics & Biochemistry at the Yale School of Medicine, where he continues to serve as an adjunct faculty member. His research interests focus on using biophysical techniques to better understand the roles of promiscuous protein assemblies in cell nuclei and their ability to disrupt nuclear proteostasis. In particular, The Levine Lab integrates molecular modeling, super-resolution microscopy, cell and tissue biochemistry, and in vivo interventions to fully bridge hypothesis-driven science with therapeutics that impact human health. These integrated techniques highlight shared molecular determinants of biological aging, disease, and injury that drive cellular dysfunction and provide overlapping targets for restoring and maintaining organismal health. Zachary is currently a Fellow of Yale’s Branford Residential College, was a recipient of numerous NIH research awards and grants, and served as program co-chair for the Biophysical Society.
